Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 July 2026

NeighbourHub ("we", "us") is a neighbourhood marketplace and carpooling app that lets residents of the same apartment society buy from, sell to, and share rides with each other. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how you can control or delete it.

The short version: your data lives on our own servers, and we don't share it with anyone — no advertisers, no data brokers, no unrelated third parties. The only exceptions are the handful of service providers listed below that are strictly needed to make the app work (sending your OTP, delivering push notifications, hosting our servers) — none of them may use your data for their own purposes.

Who can use NeighbourHub

NeighbourHub is intended for use by individuals 18 years of age or older who are genuine residents of a participating society. It is not directed at, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, anyone under 18. If we learn that we've collected data from someone under 18, we will delete it. If you believe a minor has an account, contact us using the details below and we'll act on it.

What we collect

  • Phone number — used to log you in via a one-time password (OTP). We don't offer social login, so this is the only identifier tied to your account.
  • Name and profile photo — shown to other residents when you list an item or accept a ride.
  • Society, tower and flat — used to verify you as a resident, match you with neighbours in the same building, and show delivery/pickup details on orders.
  • Photos you upload — for the listings you create.
  • FSSAI registration details — if you list food items, so we can display a verified badge.
  • Push notification token — used to notify you about order and ride updates. You can turn this off in Settings.

What we don't do

  • We do not process payments in the app — buyers and sellers settle directly (UPI/cash). We never see or store your payment details.
  • We do not track your location in the background, and the app does not read your device's GPS location.
  • We do not sell your data to third parties or use it for ad targeting.

The only service providers involved — never anyone else

  • MSG91 — sends the OTP SMS to verify your phone number. It only ever sees the phone number and OTP needed for that one message.
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — delivers push notifications to your device.
  • DigitalOcean — hosts our servers, database, and uploaded photos. Your data lives here, not with any other company.

That's the complete list. We don't sell, rent, or share your data with anyone beyond it.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Order and listing history tied to a society may be retained in de-identified form after deletion, to preserve the integrity of other residents' transaction records (for example, so a completed order doesn't vanish from the other party's history).

Your rights

You can, at any time:

  • Ask us what data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate profile information directly in the app (Profile → Edit).
  • Delete your account and personal data — see below.
  • Withdraw push notification consent at any time from Settings.

Deleting your account & data

You can delete your account any time you have the app installed, from Settings → Delete Account. This immediately signs you out everywhere, frees your phone number for reuse, and deactivates your profile.

If you'd rather not open the app — or no longer have it installed — you can request the same deletion by emailing [email protected] from any email address, with the phone number registered on your NeighbourHub account. We'll verify the request and delete your account and personal data within 7 business days, and confirm by email once it's done.

Deleting your account removes your phone number, name, photo, and uploaded listing photos. Order and listing history tied to your account may be retained in de-identified form, as described above.

Security

Access to production data is limited to the people operating NeighbourHub. Passwords aren't used at all — login is OTP-only — and stored tokens are hashed, not kept in plain text.

Grievance officer

In accordance with applicable Indian law, the grievance officer for NeighbourHub is:

Vishwanath Paruvelly
Email: [email protected]
We aim to acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. If we make a material change, we'll update the "last updated" date above; continuing to use NeighbourHub after an update means you accept the revised policy.

Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of India.
